Cassia’s grandmother is my favorite character, although she is dead before the story begins. We both share a love of words. Her grandmother is the one who saved that poem that changed everything for Cassia.

Ashley Petersen on 7-14-2011 at 3:30 am

One of my favorite characters is Livy. She is so bright and innocent. She is completely untouched by the turmoil that surrounds her; she lives in a happy world where cute boys teach her how to draw leaves in the dirt. Livy is lively :)

Nicole Steinhardt on 6-30-2011 at 2:46 am

My favorite character is not one that most would think of. The Official that Cassia calls ” My Official” is, in my opinion, the most intriguing character. She is just so sly, but always has her “poker face” on. The official is calm and collected. I love the way she acts as the bad guy in a way, which every book needs. I became more infatuated with her character when she reveals that they set Ky and Cassia up as an experiment. This official is sneaky, and was always a step ahead of everyone else. Even Me! It added a great, defined, evil character, to the story. Thanks, Ally Condie!

Kelsey on 6-22-2011 at 2:51 pm

my favorite character in matched is Xander because he knows even though his heart is broken he is strong enough to help Cassia find Ky he knows Cassia loves Ky and if i were him at least part of me would feel the urge not to help but he knows it is the right thing to do

Frankie on 5-30-2011 at 11:41 pm

Ky because he shows in the “glitch” and messes everything up.

Gabie S. on 5-18-2011 at 9:51 pm

I would have to say my favorite character is Cassia’s grandfather for he is extremely wise and helps Cassia get through some very difficult times. He is the one Cassia opens her heart to and tells all of her secrets. Without him, Cassia would not be the character she has evolved to be. Also, Cassia’s grandpa gives her the great poem (do not go gently) that Cassia’s grandma saved during the time when the society was picking only 100 poems.

Michelle on 5-17-2011 at 12:34 am

Honestly, my favorite character is Ky. Cliche, right? But true. I love how calm and mysterious he is, and how sweet and devoting he can be too. He’s intelligent, which draws me in closer to him (’cause you know, intelligence is sexy, aha), smoldering, and passionate. There’s just something about that just makes me want to know him more, you know? He’s an original character, and I really can’t wait to see what happens next in the book. (:

Laura on 5-14-2011 at 9:00 pm

Ky! I love the way he makes me swoon.

Deidre on 5-8-2011 at 9:22 am

Honestly? My favorite character is Ky. He added mystery to the book and kept me on the edge of my seat. I love how he leaves his little poems and pictures for Cassia, and I can’t help but just adore him. I’ve got a thing for brunettes, you know.

Devan on 5-2-2011 at 3:11 am

My favorite character would have to be Ky. I like strong independent characters. Ally also does a great job at making you feel for her characters. ****Spoilers****

Ky’s Aunt and Uncles reaction to the Society taking him away was just pulls at your heart strings. Can’t wait to read Crossed!

Natalia on 5-1-2011 at 4:17 am

I have to say, my favorite character out of the book is Bram, Cassia’s brother. He just naturally a good person and sweet in the inside. You can tell there is a small sister-brother fued in the story but you know that the two love each other very much and you can see on how much Bram depends on Cassia. The brother-sister love is very strong and you see how much it hurt Cassia to hurt Bram. And the way that Bram looks like his grandfather makes Cassia sentimental at times. It just the innocence of Bram that makes him my favorite character, all his problems are little, not as big compared to Cassia.

Alexis on 4-30-2011 at 8:18 pm

My favorite character is Ky. Xander is kind-of two-faced. I know he loves her and everything. But at least be NICE to her, because you love her. But since i know how dudes act and stuff, i can see that, that anger only comes from how much he really likes her. Ky, is just the biggest mysterious guy I’ve ever seen!! He gave her poetry with pictures that MEANT something behind them. He kissed her and held her hand even though, they both knew that they were going to be caught. And have an Infraction. Now, usually i don’t like romances. But this is the one, i read from cover-to-cover :)

Devin Grey on 4-27-2011 at 8:29 pm

Although many people usually limit themselves to main characters for their favorites, my favorite character is a main supporter of Cassia. After all, he DID help create her…yes, I am reffering to Mr. Reyes. He is willing to put everything at risk for his family’s happiness and I can respect that. Whether it be destroying Grandfather’s tissue sample, or signing Cassia up for work (enabling her to escape down the river and find Ky). He is truly such an amazing person and I hope to read more about him in the near future.

Sarah G. on 4-25-2011 at 3:46 am

I’m seeing lots of Xander posts, but I’m a sucker for Ky. I mean, the guy gave Cassia poetry for her birthday. How can you beat that??? :)

crisseo on 4-20-2011 at 6:03 pm

I’m with Dot, she says it best. The grandfather reminds me of Edward G Robinson in Soylent Green … working within a corrupt system but fighting and maintaining his own independence and free will. Remembering when things were beautiful, and not just status quo. He also chose to die thoroughly rather than live as a puppet. Awesome book, can’t wait for the next one.

Judy Johnson on 4-20-2011 at 4:40 pm

I am a middle school librarian and I can’t wait to share Matched with the students at my school. I know I will have to get multiple copies for our library and there will still be an incredibly long waiting lost.

Ashley on 4-8-2011 at 1:29 am

My favorite character is Cassia’s grandfather. He reminded me so much of my grandfather and the scenes between him and Cassia reminded me so much of my relationship with my grandfather.

Marissa on 4-4-2011 at 2:40 am

My favorite character would have to be Cassia’s mother. I must admit that at first I found her well just an average conforming member of society but there is so much more behind her reasoning why she obeys the society (her way of keeping her family safe). At that same time she listens and cares for her daughter, what I love about her is at the end of the book Cassia says how she hears updates from her mother where Ky is at, that is a mother who truly loves her daughter and wants to see the best for her :)

cuethesun on 4-2-2011 at 9:35 am

My favorite is Ky. He’s very intriguing and sweet. He’s had a rough life and is still so sensitive and strong.

Jodi on 3-31-2011 at 8:51 pm

I love Bram! He’s just a cute little brother and I think he deserves more credit than he gets as a character.

Kelly Stack on 3-31-2011 at 12:00 am

My favorite character is Ky. His quiet strength, passion and sensitivity drew me to him and made me fall in love with him right along with Cassia.

Carolina on 3-30-2011 at 10:45 pm

My favorite character is Xander because he is patient, understanding, kind, and intelligent. He is not afraid to express his emotions and is willing to fight for Cassia’s affections even though he seems to be fighting an uphill battle.

Jaime on 3-30-2011 at 2:05 pm

My favorite character is Cassia’s grandfather – what a great example he is for her – such an inspiration of quiet rebellion…living within the rules without going quietly into that good night and still dying on his terms. I think it really shapes Cassia’s character and her decisions in the story.

Megan Matthews on 3-30-2011 at 2:05 am

I loved Cassia! She is such a strong, independent character. Added with KY and Zander, it just makes for an amazing book!

Heather Y on 3-29-2011 at 11:35 pm

I love Xander. He is really sweet and he seems like everything a woman would wantg in a match!

Kira on 3-29-2011 at 10:20 pm

My favorite character is Cassia’s grandfather. He is a very loving man who has a close relationship with the members of his family. He was very strong, even up to his last day. He fought the system in his own way. He did not follow the society blindly. He thought for himself.

Alyssa on 3-29-2011 at 4:04 pm

My favorite character is Xander and Cassies Grandfather.
Xander loves Cassie, but Cassie doesnt love him back the same way, it broke my heart when this happened but xander never stopped helping cassie, Xander did something that no one else can ever do, have compassion for the one he loves even if she doesnt love him back.

And I really liked the Grandfather character because , he was strong and wise and didnt put up with the society like everyone else. Him and cassie are definetly similar in there strong willed emotions.

Emy Shin on 3-29-2011 at 1:43 pm

It’s so difficult to choose — but for me, it’d have to be Xander. He’s funny, courageous, and so exceedingly loyal.

Melissa Lane on 3-29-2011 at 10:59 am

Thanks for the giveaway!

My favorite character is Cassia. I loved her because of the growth she went through over the course of the book. She really struggled with her choices and I felt connected to her the whole way through.

Krista Fitzgerald on 3-29-2011 at 2:47 am

My favorite character is Ky. He’s mysterious and unique but has a very loving and caring side. He loves Cassia and will do anything for her. I can’t wait to find out more in Crossed!! :)

Kelly Carroll on 3-28-2011 at 5:46 pm

My favorite character is Cassia’s grandfather. He is so strong and was the beginning of change for Cassia and those she loves.

Hannah Diehl on 3-28-2011 at 4:35 pm

My favorite character was Cassia. I know that’s typical but she deserves to be loved!!
She is so brave and the way she reacts to the beauty that Society has taken away from them, like the poem by Dylan Thomas, is gorgeous. She grows so much throughout the book and it will be exciting to see what she will accomplish throughout the next two.

Kim Mills on 3-28-2011 at 3:02 pm

Fav character: Grandfather
Why: Very intriguing and I want to know more about him.

Aimee Brown on 3-28-2011 at 1:42 pm

I really enjoyed all the characters in this book, but Cassia’s journey to awareness and her courageous heart really touched me. I’m looking forward to continuing on that journey with her. Second runner up was Grandpa. The scenes with him really touched me.

Lizza Gonzalez on 3-28-2011 at 10:27 am

My favorite character in the book is very hard to pick because I have a big love for Cassia, Ky, Xander, Bram, and her grandfather. Her grandfather though carries a big love from me. He did not go gentle. He never had, and inspired Cass to the same. The story would have never started without Cass. He saved the poems, he started Ky and Cassia’s romance, the flame to a bigger story that I am dying to read. So PLEASE send me the book :D

Emily C. on 3-28-2011 at 2:17 am

I really liked Cassia’s grandfather and the relationship between the two of them.

Jenny on 3-28-2011 at 12:25 am

I love Ky because he is a foil character and brings out the best in Cassia, leading her to find her true self and a fantastic adventure!

Ally M. on 3-28-2011 at 12:07 am

My fave character is Cassia because she is a lot like me in some ways.

Mendy on 3-27-2011 at 9:02 pm

I like Cassia because she’s strong willed.

Alicia on 3-27-2011 at 6:59 pm

I definitely love Xander’s gregarious personality more :P He’s Cassia’s best friend, and they’ve grown up together! Plus, I think he really does love her.

Wonderful giveaway :) It would be absolutely phenomenal to win an ARC of Crossed!

Megan on 3-27-2011 at 6:51 pm

My favorite character is probably Cassia. I just feel like I can connect to her so much more than any characters in any other books I have read. She loves hiking and enjoying nature, wild, real nature, and poetry. I also love how she wants to break free and fight the Society, and how she wants to make her owns words even though they tell her she can’t and the only things holding her back from fighting the lack of freedom are the people she loves.

Candace on 3-27-2011 at 5:51 pm

I absolutely love Ky. He’s just so genuine and caring. He knows the consequences of loving Cassia, but he still loves her anyway.

Hope on 3-27-2011 at 5:20 pm

I really like Ky and Cassia’s grandfather because they both sort of got the ball rolling that causes Cassia to start realizing that her world isn’t perfect, but if I had to choose just one I suppose I’d have to pick Ky because we got to know him more.

Gabrielle on 3-27-2011 at 4:58 am

My favorite character of Matched would have to be Cassia. As much as i love Ky and his story, I felt as though Cassia was the perfect character. The fact that she was a teenager was something i could relate to right off the bat, however, i could also relate to her feelings of imagining more beyond what is given and presented before you. I loved the fact that the story was told from an innocent girl’s perspective and that as she gained more insight into how her world worked, she wasn’t afraid to stand up and defy everything she was ever told for the chance to experience life beyond the Society and to save the one she loves.

Kaitlyn Flickner on 3-26-2011 at 9:24 pm

I would have to say that my favorite character was Cassia’s grandfather because it was he who helped shape Cassia attitude towards life and helped her not only believe in herself but to pursue what was in her heart instead of what was being told by the society. He proved that life was worth living no matter what the consequences and that in order to pursue any goal in life you have to first believe in yourself before you can believe in the possibilities.

Stephanie Baassler on 3-26-2011 at 8:50 pm

Grandpa is my favorite. It is he who helps to begin her quiet rebellion. It is he who shows her that maybe the Society isn’t perfect, simply by daring to do things he’s not “supposed” to do. Do not go gentle, indeed.

Jennie M. on 3-26-2011 at 6:51 pm

I love Ky. He’s just so sweet, emotional and real. Especially compared to other characters. :)

Liz on 3-26-2011 at 5:38 pm

Ky! He’s so mysterious but brave enough to go against the society!

Anna S. on 3-26-2011 at 5:34 am

I love Cassia….she is a strong person and I can’t wait to see what happens next=)

Bonnie on 3-26-2011 at 3:03 am

This is such a hard question! There are so many great characters. One I particularly liked was Cassia’s grandfather. He’s the type of grandfather everyone wants, with so much knowledge. I was so sad when he passed on and felt for his family, especially considering the circumstances. He was so brave. I wish we’d been able to visit with him longer!

Meredith on 3-26-2011 at 1:00 am

I’ll have to say Bram is my favorite. He just makes me laugh and runs a muck, which are both things that I absolutely adore. However, I am also a fan of Xavier and Ky.

Jenny on 3-25-2011 at 8:06 pm

My favorite character(s) were Cassia’s parents. They are so supportive and understanding. So often in YA lit the parents are absent, leaving the adolescents to come of age on their own. But I love to see parents who get involved in their children’s lives and help them along. Cassia’s parents do this, even with the risks involved, and I love them for it.

Minas on 3-25-2011 at 7:47 pm

My favorite character would be Xander because he is sweet and loyal.

Elizabeth on 3-25-2011 at 6:50 pm

Ky… I just love Ky. He’s so much more than meets the eye, and I can’t wait to learn more about him in Crossed! He’s complicated, and beautiful… gosh I love Ky ^_^.

Rachel on 3-25-2011 at 5:54 pm

My favorite character would have to be Ky, because he knows exactly how to play the Society. He is brave and clever and was perfect for pulling Cassia out of the Society’s bubble.

Thanks for running this contest :)

Ruthie G. on 3-25-2011 at 3:42 pm

Cassia’s grandfather is my favorite – “Do not go gently” is the best line ever.

Red Boot Pearl on 3-25-2011 at 3:17 pm

Ky is my favorite, because he’s quiet and unassuming. He’s always been there in the background, except now Cassia sees him. He’s such a well written character, I loved how little bits and pieces of his character unfolded as the story went.

Amber on 3-25-2011 at 2:57 pm

I’m with those who listed Xander as their favorite. Even from moment one he was loveable. I feel like his character only developed more when we realized that he has secrets of his own.

Amber on 3-25-2011 at 6:33 am

I really think I like Bram best. He isnt an al out rebel but he lets himself loose when he feels the need. He knows his limits and since he never does anything really bad, he gets away with the little things (mostly) lol

Irvin on 3-25-2011 at 5:41 am

My favorite character is Cassia because she gets more and more badass as the book goes by. She loves poetry, like I do. And msot importantly, she is an incredibly caring person, and does everything she can to help out her friends, her family, and both Xander and Ky.

Sarah on 3-25-2011 at 4:04 am

That’s a hard question. I think my favorite character was Ky, because I’m a hopeless fangirl and something about him just intrigued me. But honestly I like all of the main characters, if I’m honest.

Anaiz on 3-25-2011 at 3:36 am

My favorite character is Cassia, she has an independent mind (well as independent as possible in her society) and shows a lot of strength and courage, her grandparents would be proud! If anyone deserves a happy ending it’s her… and Ky of course ;)

Sheri Copier on 3-25-2011 at 3:12 am

Ky is my favorite character in Matched. He is rugged yet sensitive. Very smart and a great teacher to Cassia.

Ann-Marie on 3-25-2011 at 2:02 am

My favorite character is the grandfather. I hope we get to learn more about him in the next books. Of course I like Cassia and Xander, but I’m really intrigued by what the grandfather knew about the Society before he died.

melissa @ 1lbr on 3-25-2011 at 2:00 am

I have to say I really love Cassia’s grandfather – he really set her on the path to questioning and to thinking about the society’s issues. Plus, I love that he smuggled poetry to her :)

I love Ky. He is so different from everyone else….talk about brave!

Amy on 3-25-2011 at 1:01 am

Cassia, of course. She is the star. :)

Sandy on 3-25-2011 at 12:38 am

Ally Condie has written a score of layered, complex characters–I have too many favorites! Cassia, Ky, and Xander are a stellar trio, but my favorite character is Cassia’s grandfather. I loved how he saved the poem and gave Cassia her first experience with resistence and holding on to independent thought.

Dawn on 3-25-2011 at 12:15 am

I am gonna say Ky . . . it just seems like there is so much more chemistry there! He’s so mysterious and you have to love the rebel.

Anna Sindt on 3-24-2011 at 11:52 pm

I love Cassia=)

Alexis Salcido on 3-24-2011 at 11:48 pm

I would love to win Crossed and my favorite character is Ky because of his stength, courage, and kindness. XD

my email is alexis0407@yahoo.com

Christina Bejjani on 3-24-2011 at 11:27 pm

I would have to go with Cassia’s grandfather. He got her thinking about some very serious issues and I love that he kept that poem even though it could’ve turned out so badly.

Divya on 3-24-2011 at 11:22 pm

My favorite Matched character is Cassia because of the strength and courage she exudes especially when it comes to making the big decision. She chooses to follow her heart and allows herself to have choices in her life despite a society which denies her this right. Cassia has the guts and the will power to make her own decisions.

C.J. on 3-24-2011 at 10:44 pm

My favorite character was Ky, he is so mysterious and is different from everyone else. You have to agree, being different, knowing it and not being able to do much about it would be EXCRUCIATINGLY terrible. Ky seems to handle everything well. Plus, he is everything i would want in a guy! (i fell a LITTLE sorry for Xander, but….) He is definitely something and someone special. i can NOT wait for Crossed!!!!!

ldsjaneite on 3-24-2011 at 10:33 pm

My favorite is Xander. He is her best friend. When did the world forget that for a successful relationship, you combine the love of your best friend with the falling-in-love-kind? So Cassia had one love for him, but not the other. But Xander? He has both for Cassia. And I can’t help feeling terrible for him–especially as I fell in love with him! And there is so much more to him. I can’t wait to see what else happens in the series!

Hailey on 3-24-2011 at 10:09 pm

Ky. he is exciting, wonderful, mysterious, and really wants to be with cassia, no matter what the consequences. I really want to like xander better, but ky is just so much better!

Angela H. on 3-24-2011 at 10:05 pm

My favorite character is/was the grandfather, because he had been keeping the flame of resistance and free thought alive all that time.

Marie Oliva on 3-24-2011 at 9:56 pm

My favorite character is Ky because he’s so mysterious and HOT! Haha, thanks for the chance to win!

Truly Bookish on 3-24-2011 at 9:39 pm

Xander! I usually have a soft spot for the other guy in the love triangle and I think Xander is so great!

Lydia on 3-24-2011 at 9:30 pm

My favorite character is definitely Xander. He’s certainly the safe option, but he’s also so sweet and perfect that I just couldn’t help but fall for him. =)

Stephanie McNemar on 3-24-2011 at 9:23 pm

Cassia’s grandfather was my favorite character because he gave her wisdom on the way the world used to be. He kind of reminded me of the old man in The Giver. Thanks for the giveaway!

liz tea on 3-24-2011 at 9:12 pm

Honestly, Cassia’s grandfather was one of the characters that has stuck with me the most. I loved that there was a hidden depth to him, and that he didn’t want to go down exactly like the Society wanted him too. I found him to be extremely brave, kind, and loved him family. He’s what I pictured my grandfather to be if I’d ever known him. :)

Can’t wait for Crossed!

Jennifer Hitchcock on 3-24-2011 at 7:50 pm

My favorite character is Cassia because she reminds me of myself. I was always a “good” girl and followed all the rules just like her. I’d like to believe that if there was something I needed to stand up for, that I would react just like Cassia did and “not go gently” in the end.

Chandra on 3-24-2011 at 7:34 pm

Cassia is my favorite character because of her attempt to break out of the mold the government has them in.

Jessi C. on 3-24-2011 at 7:25 pm

Though I’m tempted to say Ky, I’ve got to go with Cassia. I love that she is finding the strength inside herself to stand up for what she believes in and go after Ky.

Jena on 3-24-2011 at 7:09 pm

My favorite character is a tie between Cassia’s grandpa and Xander! Cassia’s grandpa because he is the one that encourages her to “not go gently”; Xander because he is willing to do anything for Cassia, even if it means helping her to go find Ky.

Jessi Brown on 3-24-2011 at 6:32 pm

I really liked the Grandfather and how he believed in Cassia and sparked that defiance in her.

Sherisoo on 3-24-2011 at 6:22 pm

Xander is the best! He is the Sydney Carton of modern literature.

Sheryl on 3-24-2011 at 5:04 pm

Cassia is my favorite character. She is learning about her inner strength…something EVERYONE has to learn at some time or another. She has courage, and that sense of ‘what is right for her’ NOT what The Society says is right for her. She is willing to step outside the box. Of course, so were her grandparents, and parents, too. She comes from hardy stuff. AND Ky is her match. He comes from Hardy stuff too. I can hardly wait for Crossed.

shannonq on 3-24-2011 at 4:35 pm

My favorite character is Cassia’s Grandfather. I’m sad he’s gone. I loved how he was so caring and wise.

Okie on 3-24-2011 at 3:40 pm

What a great contest!

Favorite character is hard. I think generally I would have to say Cassia is my favorite character but that feels like a cop out.

I really like her father and her grandparents as well…they have a lot of unseen depth to them.

Diana on 3-24-2011 at 3:35 pm

The main characters are awesome but I really like Cassia’s father. He seems like a very strong person (but quiet about it) who loves his family more than anything and would do anything for them. I loved his role at the very end of matched. I’m interested to read what else he does as the trilogy continues.

Megan on 3-24-2011 at 2:42 pm

Ky is my favorite because he truly wants to be with Cassia, not just because society played the mind game with them.

J. P. on 3-24-2011 at 1:08 pm

My favorite character… hmm…
Either Ky or Xander. Xander, because is is loyal and wonderful and I think a girl should go with her best friend. Ky because he’s exciting. XD

Kimberly on 3-24-2011 at 12:28 pm

Definitely Xander! His loyalty, his protectiveness… A girl should always be with her best friend. :-)

My favorite matched character is Cassia because we’re seeing The Society through her eyes and she’s learning to care about herself and question the world around her.

Hope I win!

amber bogner on 3-24-2011 at 11:21 am

Wow, that is a tough choice! Cassia because of her strength, Ky because of his mystery, and Xander because of his loyalty. LOVE this book!

Hailey on 3-24-2011 at 10:59 am

team ky all the way! he is so amazing! he is mysterious, and he has a story to tel and he is ment for cassia!!

Sarah Evans on 3-24-2011 at 10:06 am

Ky- i love that he brings out the adventrous side of CASsie. I THInk there is something more to him that we are missing. he reminds me of CASSIE’s grandfather. cant wait for CROSSED!!

Christine Pardee on 3-24-2011 at 6:06 am

I love Ky. He is a very mysterous guy, the type I would fall for. He has caught Cassia’s attention, and mine. I also enjoyed Cassia’s grandfather. He was a strong character for me, having his final wishes carried out. I lost my grandfather too, so I felt Cassia’s pain.

Vivien on 3-24-2011 at 5:41 am

I’m Team Xander. This may change. lol But I’m really trying to be loyal…

Throughout the entire novel I enjoyed reading about Ky, but if I had to pick one character who doesn’t get enough credit, it would be the grandfather. He is the first one to actually help Cassia realize all that is wrong with her world.

Thanks for this chance.

Val at truthebtold004 at gmail dot com

Jessica on 3-24-2011 at 3:55 am

Ky- he’s mysterious & possibly doomed.

Daya on 3-24-2011 at 3:37 am

I like Cassia. She’s very unique and not like the other protagonists in dystopian novels. (Jonah from “The Giver” seemed a little more reckless, for example.)

Krista Hanna on 3-24-2011 at 3:32 am

Xander would have to be my favorite character because although he seems like the “perfect” guy in the beginning of the book, at the end we see another side to him- and it has a bit of independence and rebellion in it that is very intrigueing. I like the fact that he realizes something is wrong with The Society and he is willing to stand up with Cassia to fight for what he believes in and those that he loves.

Andrea Thompson on 3-24-2011 at 3:25 am

Thanks for the great giveaway! My favorite character is Cassia b/c she is a take-charge girl who determines her own fate.

Katrina on 3-24-2011 at 3:22 am

Ky. I love how much he’s willing to risk to discover the truth … and how aware he is of the importance of blending into the background, of not drawing any attention to himself.

Ashley on 3-24-2011 at 3:20 am

It’s impossibly hard to pick just one favorite, but I think I would chose the Grandfather, because he is a quiet fighter, doing small things to try and remain true to himself and without him, I don’t think Cassia would have made the choices that she did.

Diana on 3-24-2011 at 3:12 am

I like Xander too. I hope he gets a chance at love!

Krystal on 3-24-2011 at 3:11 am

I like Xander best, but I think he’s going to get the short end of the stick. I hope not. I’ll take him! :)

Denya on 3-24-2011 at 2:59 am

My favorite character is Xander, the unwavering and undying devotion to Cassia, even as he discovers her feelings for Ky was breathtaking. The scene that sealed it for me is when he agreed to safekeep Ky’s artifact (trying not to give spoilers), and this was reaffirmed when he packed the pills for Cassia. Any guy who goes to such lengths when the love of his life is also in love with someone else is the perfect version of a male in my eyes! Team Xander!

Kerry on 3-24-2011 at 2:38 am

My favorite character? Ky! So mysterious!

Sarena on 3-24-2011 at 2:37 am

Ky because he isn’t afraid of being different and refusing to conform

Ashley Holt on 3-24-2011 at 2:33 am

My favorite character is Ky because he does what he wants to do not what he is *supposed to do*!!!

Samantha Lee on 3-24-2011 at 2:28 am

Cassia’s dad is my favorite character because he breaks the rules, but only when it’s necessary to protect his family.

Travis on 3-24-2011 at 2:27 am

Cassia, because she’s determined to live her life her own way.

Melissa Brockett on 3-24-2011 at 2:22 am

My favorite character is Ky! I love this book and can’t wait for Crossed.

mrsheisefpms on 3-24-2011 at 2:15 am

My favorite character was Cassia’s grandfather because he’s the one who provides the wisdom and way into the “real” world.

Rachel Elizabeth on 3-24-2011 at 1:52 am

Ky, because he’s not afraid to take chances. I really admire him.

Rebekah A on 3-24-2011 at 1:52 am

Cassia – she embodies what I want to be…and she’s just discovering herself.

Paula Mitchell on 3-24-2011 at 1:51 am

my favorite character would have to be Cassia as she was willing to take chances with Ky even though she was suppose to be matched with Xander and she is now on a mission to find him. The rules she is breaking are so out of the norm with what society wants of her.

Brandi Marie on 3-24-2011 at 1:51 am

Oh this is so exciting!

I would definitely say Ky… I love me a good rebel!

I am going to have to say Cassia because I loved having the insight into her thoughts and feelings. I liked how in this dystopian it starts out with Cassia being completely content with her society and then slowly beginning to realize all of its flaws. She accepted and considered the things she discovered instead of turning them away and not wanting to face the hard truth. She fights her battle with thoughts, words, and subtle actions rather than through physical fighting.

Michelle Julian on 3-24-2011 at 1:34 am

I can’t possibly choose, but if I have to, I’d say Cassia

Heather Schick on 3-24-2011 at 1:29 am

My favorite character besides Cassia is Ky. Ky in layman’s terms has been labeled as the “bad boy” by the Society, but in my opinion, he is the unsung hero in Matched. There is so much to explore with Ky. He is much more intelligent, creative, and knowledgeable than the Society wants him to be. He has to play a much larger part in Cassia’s life. I just hope he doesn’t become the martyr.

kathy on 3-24-2011 at 1:25 am

There were so many good characters in the book. I loved the grandpa and Xander, but I think one of the most intriguing is Cassia’s official. I hope we see her again.

Nicole on 3-24-2011 at 1:21 am

I love Ky because of his determination to be free and for his ability to love Cassia so fiercely.

Christina G on 3-24-2011 at 1:02 am

Cassia because she has confronted the difficult truths of her life and of society with strength and determination.

Arianna Ruiz on 3-24-2011 at 12:43 am

My favorite character is Ky…of course! I love how he fights for what he believes in, he doesn’t try to live the life The Society wants him to live, rather he lives the life HE wants to live.

Brandee on 3-24-2011 at 12:41 am

My favorite character was her grandpa because he was so wise and kind. He had a fiery kind of spunk. :)

Komal Sankla on 3-24-2011 at 12:37 am

Xander. While I love love love Ky, my heart breaks for Xander every second. He’s the sweetest most loyal boy I’ve ever read. LOVE YOU XANDER! This giveaway blows my mind! [:

Rachel S. on 3-24-2011 at 12:34 am

My favorite is Xander. Maybe it’s because I kind of feel sorry for him. He’s an awesome guy, Cassia just didn’t pick him.

K Wheelwright on 3-23-2011 at 11:42 pm

I would have to say Ky. He is so full of mystery and life, not fully tainted by the oppressive society. Knowledge is power and he holds fast to all he knows.

Chloe P. on 3-23-2011 at 11:28 pm

It’s been a while since I read the book, but I really liked Xander. I’d like to have a best friend like him!

Tiffany on 3-23-2011 at 11:06 pm

Ky has many facets to his character that I admire, and these make him the most interesting and albeit, my favorite in “Matched”. He has the sensitivity to understand what Dylan Thomas had written about in his poem; the wits to always be mediocre in everything he does to mislead the the Society. And like his uncle he has the rare quiet dignity in whatever tragic circumstance he is facing. This trait is what I most admire in him. In the future books, there will be many more facets to uncover about Ky, and I look forward to discovering them alongside Cassia.

*Correcting my spelling errors!

Kai’s has many facets to his character that I admire, and make him the most interesting and albeit, my favorite. And like his uncle he has the rare quiet dignity in whatever tragic circumstance he is facing. This trait is what I most admire in him. Grace Clyde on 3-23-2011 at 10:57 pm

My favorite character is Xander. I fell for him the moment he was introduced in the book. I love his friendship with Cassia and everything he is willing to do for her. I feel sorry for him because he loves Cassia, and he is watching her slip away with Ky. He’s a great friend to Cassia, and a really stand up guy. TEAM XANDER!

Siobhan Wicks on 3-23-2011 at 10:57 pm

My favorite character is Ky because he isn’t fooled by any of the society’s brainwashing or lies. He sees things as they are, and he helps Cassia to finally see as well.

Danielle on 3-23-2011 at 10:52 pm

I love Ky and how strong he is after what he went through in his childhood and how he smart and kind – teaching Cassia and everything!

KJ on 3-23-2011 at 10:47 pm

Ky, because he’s doomed without being defeated, and authenticly human in a time and place when the very emotions that define our humanity have been bled from the gene pool.

Wendy Dunn on 3-23-2011 at 10:46 pm

Cassia! I love that she’s starting to ask hard questions about her way of life. I also like that she doesn’t just accept the new information. She ponders it, makes her opinion and THEN acts. Can’t waitto see what Crossed brings for her!

Chary on 3-23-2011 at 10:20 pm

My fav character is Xander cause he seems like the ideal best friend.

Kallie on 3-23-2011 at 10:15 pm

I would have to say that my favorite character is Xander! He really likes Cassia and wants to help her, even if he doesn’t ‘get the girl’ in the end!

Chris on 3-23-2011 at 10:11 pm

My favorite character would be Xander, he handle Cassia wanting to go after Ky with unfaltering grace. I can not wait for Crossed.

Maggie on 3-23-2011 at 10:02 pm

My favorite character? It has to be Ky. To be branded something because of another’s actions, and to stand resiliently despite that – well, you’ve got to admire his strong character. And he’s mysterious, especially towards the end of the novel, and what his role will be in the next book. He’s a good match for Cassia, and really, the secret budding romance doesn’t hurt either! :)

Brooke on 3-23-2011 at 9:53 pm

My favorite character so far is Cassia. She’s a unique heroine and I love seeing her break out of her shell!

Lynsey Newton on 3-23-2011 at 9:48 pm

My favourite character is probably Cassia actually closely followed by Ky. I love the way Cassia develops throughout the book and ends up being quite the rebel in the end! I loved every interaction between Cassia and Ky – Ky is adorable.

Thank you for the opportunity to win :)

Jessica Faulkner on 3-23-2011 at 9:45 pm

My favorite character is probably Ky…. he has had a hard life but isn’t jaded. He could have turned his back on Cassia, but he helped her.

Krista @cubicleblindness on 3-23-2011 at 9:43 pm

my favorite character is Xander. I think that he has a very forgiving personality and even though it hurts him for Cassia to want to explore who Ky is, Xander is still a very loving and committed friend to her.

Amelia on 3-23-2011 at 9:30 pm

My favorite character is Cassia’s grandfather. He’s the one who encourages Cassia to be strong and lets her know that it’s okay to question the Society’s decisions. Most importantly, he teaches her to think for herself.

Casey (The Bookish Type) on 3-23-2011 at 9:29 pm

I think Grandfather was probably my favorite character. He was so wise!

Thanks for the great giveaway!

Deanne on 3-23-2011 at 9:28 pm

My favorite character is Xander because he’s kind, loyal and loves Cassia despite all of her flaws and will do anything to make her happy, even if that means encouraging her love for someone else.

Peny on 3-23-2011 at 9:19 pm

My favorite character is definitely Ky because he has been through so much and is still able to love and have fun with Cassia. He’s the strongest character in the book and I think that he shows it by having all that ability and keeping it inside while he stays under the radar, not awful but not as amazing as he could be.

Rachel C on 3-23-2011 at 9:16 pm

I like Grandfather. He was down to earth and wanted her to think for herself. Always good advice!
Thanks for the contest!

Aeriell Fanara on 3-23-2011 at 9:12 pm

I love Xander because even though he loves Cassia and knows that she loves Ky he’s willing to help her anyway. He loyal and patient and deserves Cassia’s love even though he cannot have it the way he would like.

Aeriell

Samita @ Book Purring on 3-23-2011 at 9:11 pm

Ky! Because he’s smart and adorable and the poor guy just can’t catch a break.

Christine on 3-23-2011 at 9:08 pm

I really liked Ky because he knew who he was and accepted it, but toward the end of the book I really started liking Xander. *dilemma*

Anna on 3-23-2011 at 9:05 pm

My favorite character is Ky, for many reasons:
He’s got such depth, and his story is both saddening and inspiring. His desire for someone to see him makes him very sympathetic-I just want to hug the poor boy! He can write in cursive and he appreciates poetry. He’s one of the strongest characters in MATCHED and I was heartbroken when he was sent away!

Lilly Bear @ BookLungs on 3-23-2011 at 9:02 pm

Oh gosh, it’s so hard to pick favorites! I’ve got a big thing for Ky, of course. He’s just wonderful. One of my favorite characters from Matched, though, would probably be Cassia’s grandfather. He was just so hardcore and intelligent. He helped to give Cassia the nudge she needed to start figuring things out on her own, testing boundaries, and gave her the courage to trust herself. I’m sorry we won’t be getting to know more about him!

Great giveaway, by the way. Thank you so much for hosting. I’m all giddy and fangirly right now! :)

Amy on 3-23-2011 at 9:02 pm

Cassia. Being in her head was never boring, and I’m excited to follow her on her new journey.

Sarah H on 3-23-2011 at 8:58 pm

I have to agree, Cassia is my favorite too. It was awesome watching her grow and I can’t wait to see how much she changes in Crossed!

Robyn on 3-23-2011 at 8:58 pm

My favourite character is Ky because he stands out from the rest of the characters and shows that its okay to be different.

Nicky on 3-23-2011 at 8:58 pm

It’s a hard toss up between Ky and Xander. However, I think Xander wins my favorite character reward from Matched. He proves he is more than just the “right” match for Cassia but that he is also ultimately a true best friend. I think his character has depth and love that any female would love. And he is gorgeous. Who wouldn’t love that!

jeannette on 3-23-2011 at 8:57 pm

i think i’d have to go with ky…he’s been through much in his life, and even though he just skates by so he goes unnoticed, he still finds the courage to show cassia the truth of what she is missing by simply following the rules and accepting the match made by the society.

Heather on 3-23-2011 at 8:56 pm

My favorite character is Ky. He is really smart and he doesn’t take advantage of the good things that happen in life. He’s sweet and cares about other people even when that’s not returned or expected.

Michael Araujo on 3-23-2011 at 8:55 pm

My favorite character HAS to be Ky’s mother. Mrs. Markham. The one scene at the end where she, well I don’t want to give anything away. But that one scene she had was very powerful. I think it was the most powerful scene in the novel and it made me really love her character.

Dot Hutchison on 3-23-2011 at 8:54 pm

My favorite character was Cassia’s grandfather. His strength and wisdom and gentleness, his longing for a more confusing time when language meant something and poetry could light the sky on fire, is gorgeous, but even more so, his expectations of Cassia are amazing. He recognizes the strength within her, but he doesn’t push her too hard, he doesn’t accuse or belittle her, he doesn’t ever ask more of her than she could possibly give, but he very carefully nudges her so she can follow his train of thought to the strength already within her. Absolutely amazing. I miss him so much through the rest of the book, but his influence is so profound that it’s almost as though he’s still there.

Amy B. on 3-23-2011 at 8:54 pm

Xander <3 He's just so completely genuine and caring for Cassia that it breaks my heart! Love him!

Rachel Bateman on 3-23-2011 at 8:54 pm

My favorite character is probably Ky because he actually questions the society and teaches Cassia to also. Or maybe Grandpa, for the same reason.

Tracey on 3-23-2011 at 8:54 pm

I love Xander…he loves Cassia and is willing to set her free..I hope she goes back to him :)

Brenna on 3-23-2011 at 8:45 pm

My favorite character would have to be Ky. I love the way his true character was reveled to readers as Cassia learned more about him. I think he has the most interesting story to tell, and right now has the most at stake. And I can’t wait to find out what happens!

Katie Conn on 3-23-2011 at 8:34 pm

Hi! My favorite character is Cassia. She is my favorite character because she followed the rules and did everything right, but she went through a lot…like losing her grandfather…seeing ky…not supposed to show expression toward ky…and finally having to move and ky also having to move but not knowing where to. Also Cassia is sort of adventury like me!

Julia :) on 3-23-2011 at 8:33 pm

Ohhhh I don’t think I have a favorite character. I really like Ky, because well he’s awesome, but I also like Xander because I just feel so bad for him! I mean HE’S SUCH A NICE GUY. Haha. So its a tie between those two. :)

a_hobbit_of_the_shire(at)yahoo(dot)com

Natasha on 3-23-2011 at 8:15 pm

My favorite character is Xander because he still helps Cassia even though she loves Ky.

Nicole on 3-23-2011 at 8:14 pm

My favorite character from “MATCHED” would be Cassia; Cassia is a relatable character, one that allows you to connect with their feelings – I love that about her. I’m excited to follow her journey in “CROSSED” and see what happens next.

Tekla on 3-23-2011 at 8:12 pm

My favorite character has to be Ky. He was one of the reasons why I fell head over heels in love with this book. He is so intriguing and unique. I loved his story and I can’t wait to know more of him in Crossed! :D

Caren on 3-23-2011 at 8:12 pm

My favorite character is Cassia because I love that she doesn’t let anyone keep her from what she wants.

Leiah on 3-23-2011 at 8:09 pm

I have a soft spot for Xander. I think he really loves Cassia—and enough to let her go in the end if that’s what she wants—and he will do whatever he can to help her do what she feels she must.

Valia on 3-23-2011 at 7:37 pm

My favorite character is Xander. He’s fun, loyal, and a sweetheart!!!! :-)

Amber C on 3-23-2011 at 7:35 pm

My favorite character is Xander. Everyone needs a good looking super loyal friend watching their backs! Also, he doesn’t have the kind of “baggage” that I’m afraid Ky has. And though a boy with a mysterious past can be exciting, I’m not sure it’s ultimately the best thing for Cassia.

Sean on 3-23-2011 at 7:34 pm

My favorite character is probably Cassia because she has followed the rules all her life but has now decided that she won’t let The Society keep her from being happy.

Aimee on 3-23-2011 at 7:34 pm

While I get swoony over both Xander and Ky, my favorite character in the book is actually one we don’t get to meet “personally.” Cassia’s grandmother is my favorite for sowing the seed of rebellion by saving “Do Not Go Gently” even while carrying out her Society appointed task of collecting the 100 poems. Go Granny! (but not gently)

Luzia on 3-23-2011 at 7:34 pm

Well, if I have to choose — Bram — because only little brothers never play by the rules. Disparging other people, running in public, refusing to go to school on the first day, disorderly appearence… He broke the rules more than anyone :)

Christi Aldellizzi on 3-23-2011 at 7:31 pm

Awesome giveaway!!!

I think I like Xander the best, which probably means he’s doomed as a character (I always seem to root for the wrong person). Course, my favorite will probably change when Crossed comes out.

Oh, and can I just say that I tried the “who’s your Match?” thing when it was on Facebook (before the book came out), and it told my that my Match was my brother. Um, ew.

FloeticFlo on 3-23-2011 at 7:29 pm

Xander… *sigh*
I love that man.
Sweet, faithful, dependable, loving Xander :)
